JOB TITLE : Community Care / Support Worker professionals

Harara for disability services is supportive and caring for disability people.

We are seeking caring individuals to become part of our team to promote independence for people living at home.

General duties include:

  • Provide personal care and support to individuals in their own home, including assistance with showering and bathing.
  • Domestic tasks
  • Food preparation and service
  • Assistance with activities of daily living
  • Transport to and from medical appointments and social outings
  • supporting people with disability

Desirable:

  • Experience in working with people to increase their independence
  • Ability to speak a second language other than English including Arabic & Greek
  • Experience in working with people that require manual handling
  • ability to implement positive behaviour support strategies and an awareness of person centred active support.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • An understanding of delivering care in a person centred way.
  • Short notice availability and to be reliable & punctual.
  • Ability to speak another language specifically Arabic & Greek will be highly regarded
  • Certificate 111 or above in disability, aged care, community care or willingness to obtain within 12 months of employment.
  • The ability to problem solve and keep strictly to the program and routine
  • Ability to engage positively with a variety of personality types
  • Ability to fulfil shift duties and have excellent time management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret service information
  • Have appropriate visa to work in Australia
  • Current Police check within the last 12 months
  • Working with Children Check (WCCC)
  • Smart phone with the ability to install apps
  • 6 months minimum experience delivering personal care
  • Current first aid/CPR certificate
  • Drivers licence and own fully insured transport
  • Have an empathetic and understanding approach to providing care to people with disability needs including mental health
  • completion of the NDIS new worker module or willingness to complete as part of the organisations induction process.
